because I took my camera to Disney | Mobile AL family photographer
A couple weeks ago, our family took a trip to Disney World along with my mom, sister and her family. I really debated about whether to take my "big" camera but finally decided to bring it along at least for some of our time in the parks. The upside to bringing it of course is capturing moments with more control than my phone camera can give me. The downside is that it's heavy and bulky, and it's much more difficult to hand over to someone so I can be in some of the photos as well.
I am glad I brought it for some of the time. I also got some shots with my phone as well as making using of the Disney photographers so I could prove that I was on the trip, too!
I actually ended up taking way fewer photos than I thought I would. I think this was a combination of a lot of factors, including the large crowds and some sickness in our family. Sometimes it's really difficult to find enough space for shots you might want. Plus I wanted to be "present" as much as possible and not feel pressure to capture every single moment.
The photos in this post were all taken with my DSLR, and you'll notice I'm not in a single one! I've mentioned before that it's important to me that I show up in photos as well, and I do have some on my phone as on our Disney Photopass that include me.
All in all, I'm glad I had my camera, but I could totally see making the decision NOT to bring it along as well. I have a camera backpack that I used to carry it in, and that ended up being helpful for bringing along other items as well. So I'd suggest if you DO bring your "big" camera, to have a comfortable way to carry it along the MILES you'll be walking at Disney!
Anyway, here are a few of my favorites from our trip! I'd love to know your thoughts in the comments about bringing or not bringing your camera along on these kinds of trips!
